Beautiful setting, reasonable prices, delicious food, and great service. Had the salad with house dressing and the lobster/clam dinner. Everything perfect. Will definitely be back!

We stopped at Morse's for lunch one day during our vacation and ended up sticking to them for two additional nights. The seafood nachos - Amazing! The service was impeccable and I liked that after our second night, the staff recognized us and warmly welcomed us back. My husband had a lobster BLT and swore he'd never find another BLT that was that good. We even tried take out an it was excellent. Prices are reasonable, nice selection of beer, and a great menu hooked us. The only thing I have to say is that the chairs aren't as comfortable as the booths, but that's really not much of a complaint.

They do fried clams the right way. If you sit outside the views can't be beat. I felt the menu was a little limited, but they had some nice local beers on tap. A fun place to hang out

Great meal and great service! Watched our lobsters get boiled on the deck. Fantastic friendly wait staff.

Annual update: The service issues at Cribstone have all gone away. We ate there three times this week and ordered cooked lobsters to take out twice. Each time we enjoyed excellent, friendly and efficient service from everyone. I am so happy that this place exists on Bailey Island. I had fried clams and fried oysters and they were delicious. Their steamed lobsters for take-out make dinner at home a snap!

Found Morse's happenstance last night with my fiancé and discovered a gem of a spot. We were beyond delighted not only by the cabin-like comfy-kitch decor, friendly hostess and bartender but also the creative cocktails, healthy seafood offerings and spectacular views. We both ordered specials of the day, Haddock stuffed w Lobster and Honey-glazed Salmon over fresh greens and berries. Outstanding. Perma-grin worthy. I highly recommend to this little slice of heaven to all my fellow lucky peeps who find themselves on Bailey Island.

The view was five star The food was four stars The price was two stars The seafood nachos were awesome but for $16.99 I think they should some lobster on them. I have never had seafood nachos so I ordered this and I loved it. I just feel that is tad expensive for it. My wife ordered the scallops which were cooked excellently. Again the price point seemed high for 4 scallops and a few fries. We just were underwhelmed here and felt we spent more than we got. Service was great and the view was awesome.

After exploring the rocky coast for 2 hours, I worked up quite an appetite. Morse's is just before the bridge (when headed north towards Brunswick) and a great find (with the help of Yelp of course ). The specials were delicious sounding but I went with my gut and ordered the broiled haddock sandwich and sweet potato fries. Fantastic decision! Seriously the best fish sandwich I've EVER had. I wanted to kiss the cook, the fisherman, and the guy that made the pole to catch that haddock. Service -- SUPERB!! Dawn was great, very friendly, attentive, funny. I had moved from the patio to the pier to get some sun, she called out from the patio to see if I needed another beer like I was chilling in the backyard. Felt very at home here. Don't miss this spot!!

Came here during our day cruise with Casco Bay lines. Most of the people ended up going to Cook's since the boat docked there, but I decided to be a little more adventurous and walk down the road to this place. It looked very promising from the cure interior and support nice wait staff and hostess, but the food was just so-so. I had a lobster roll and fries and it wasn't worth the $18. The burgers actually looked pretty good here so that might be a better bet, but you can't blame me for ordering lobster when it's in season.

Cute place on the island. Beautiful views surrounding the restaurant and a dock you could pull your boat up to. Inviting staff and of course tasty food.

Nothing to get excited about. But when you've waited 1 1/2 hours to eat and you're starving, everything you put in your mouth seems amazing. Our waitress was great, the ambiance is nice, but the wait just isn't worth it. They are more expensive than nearby restaurants which serve the same fish sandwiches or broiled options, except this place brings a mini bag of Lays potato chips as a side dish. I can eat Lays at home thank you very much, if that were my thing that is. The bar staff made up of two frazzled women is slow and confused. For a restaurant that has a long wait time, they could really profit from Alcohol sales to the people waiting, however we waited 15 minutes at the bar just to be spoken to by bartender, and then we waited another 10 minutes for her to pour two glasses of wine because the scene was disorganized and she kept getting sidetracked . And yes, I'm a New York city girl so I'm used to excellent everything, but I've been around the world a few times so I don't expect everywhere to be like NYC. I just expect good service and well thought out food in exchange for my hard earned money. However this place needs a good manager, a few bus boys , and more organized bar service in order to have me wait 1 1/2 hours for a fish sandwich and a bag of Lays.

I love this little gem! If you stumble across it, just smile, because the service is friendly, the seafood is well prepared and delicious (seafood nachos are AMAZING), and the cocktails are infused perfectly (try the shipwrecked margarita)! If you are looking for a great view, Morse's has that, too. There are two options for seafood, don't bother going to the other place, this one wins...
(5)Janice M.
Love this place!! Been to Bailey Island 2 years in a row and we ALWAYS go to Morse's at least twice. The kids love it. BLT is not on the kid's menu but they always accommodate us. There is an hour wait on the weekends but they still manage to seat us together with no reservation and we're a group of 9. The muscles in wine sauce is OUTSTANDING as is the lobster dip. The margaritas are great too. We've always had a good experience. A MUST GO TO place whenever visiting Harpswell.
(5)Anne B.
I really want to give a better review. I was pretty excited to go here, based on the reviews. We got started pretty late and got there about 7:45 or so. The wait was an hour and the bar was full so we went over to Cook's to check out there wait. It was the same so we had a beer and went back to Morse's (again based on reviews). Everything was just OK, albeit we didn't get the traditional lobster. We had the lobster stew (thin cream and lobster), lobster quesadillas (good), side salad and seafood nacos. My husband loved the nachos, but the serving was huge! The server was very nice and good, but the food honestly just your usual fare in a tourist area. Sorry.
(2)Claire S.
A group of friends and I were staying on the island for a long weekend to celebrate my birthday. We ended up here for dinner and it was wonderful. The staff were super friendly and the food was definitely tasty. The seafood was very fresh and the sweet potato fries were a favorite of the table. They also had a really killer margarita call the Shipwreck which I highly recommend. The only issue was the hours. They closed pretty early so we had to take the party somewhere else after 10.
(5)Christina C.
Best place ever. Lisa, Dean, and Dawn are THE best. Great food great service. Gluten free friendly. Lobster dip is amazing Lobster roll was awesome The service is impeccable.
(5)Greg B.
Gluten-free friendly and accommodating. Manager was celiac! ATTN MGR - They need to put GF indicators on menu items! Best smoked fish dip ever. Charming, warm, cabin-like interior with lots of old wood and great views. Seating outside overlooks bridge and bay. Like eating in a painting. Food, view and service were great. Fried scallops were just amazing. Super light coating - almost a skin - kept the sweet scallop flavor front and center. Onion rings were perfect. Crunchy and sweet onion flavor within. I am a cole slaw nut and theirs did not disappoint. Their only salad choice was amazing. Fresh raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, pecans, feta and spring mix were topped with a huge piece of cleanly prepared haddock. Their house-made pecan dressing was awesome and we even bought a pint to go. Nicely priced and friendly service rounded out a wonderful meal. Drive down the road and see the giant stairs formation! Amazing.
(5)jon b.
One of the best salads in the Universe and everything else is as good. Go for the crab roll as a break from labsta' rolls....it is fantastic. Trust me, you'll dream about this food.
(5)Dee H.
Yes! Loved it here... everything from service to food to beer list was incredible! Be ready to wait, but grab a beer and sit out on the pier; heck you're on the coast and the view is worth savoring. My husband had is first-ever whole lobster and I had the fried clams; delicious. You know how sometimes you got to a vacation spot and the locals treat you like crap??? Well, not here everyone was so nice; including the hostess who was awaiting the birth of her grandchild! Loved it here and will definitely come back!
(5)EF T.
Very good food, large portions, excellent fried clams and oysters. Menu a little heavy on fried items but it's summer in Maine so what the hell. Fabulous view, literally on the ocean. Staff very congenial.
(4)Heather D.
Really great, friendly place. We went during the off season so it was slow and relaxed. My fried clam dinner with sweet potato fries was excellent! My dad said the lobster roll was the best he's had in Maine and my mom' haddock was very good. You need to try the sweet potato fries even if You don't normally like them- trust me, these are not to be missed. The lobster artichoke dip was also a big winner. Thanks for a great experience and reasonable prices!
(4)Mike G.
as lobster rolls go, decent. nice amount of meat on toasted roll $14 w/ bag of chips.
(3)Bart M.
Lobster quesidilla and Seafood Nachos were excellent. Best meal we had on our trip to Maine. We saw an Eagle outside the window and sunset was nice.
(4)Krystle T.
Seafood nachos are amazing!!! Great view, excellent staff!! Have never had a bad meal - great lobster rolls too!
(5)Jimmy B.
Fresh and good dishes, friendly service. Try the lobster salad.

I had read about the Cribstone Grill and then got a second recommendation to go there from my cousin, who grew up in Maine. As a kid and young adult, I used to go to Cook's regularly, so I was familiar with Bailey Island. I went to Cook's a couple of years ago and although the food was good, the experience was very different as it has enlarged and moved upscale over the years. Morse's is more like the way Cook's was when I was a kid. It has a small, cheerful dining room with two outdoor seating areas, one next to the restaurant and one on an adjacent wharf. The wharf seating was very tempting, but there were no umbrellas. The view from Bailey Island is simply awesome. We had a lovely waitress. After standing in line to order seafood and waiting to hear our names called on a loudspeaker to collect it, this was a pleasant change. There was Harpoon IPA on tap, which is always a good sign. The seafood was the best that we had on our trip to Maine. The steamers were delicious- sweet and without a grain of sand. We tried the Fisherman's platter, a food coma inducing combination of fried seafood. The fried clams and oysters were excellent. The scallops, as another reviewer mentioned, were really lightly battered. The haddock was great and they served the teeny sweet local shrimp that I have come to love over the years. The coleslaw and onion rings were excellent. The French fries were the only part of the meal that could have been better. They were properly cooked, but unimpressive. I'm looking forward to going back to try some big lobsters.

Had lunch on 7/13/2013. House salad was great, fresh mandarin oranges, blueberries, strawberries, pecans with fresh lettuce. Harpoon ipa was great also.

Called ahead last night to place an order to go. I was greeted on the phone by a pleasant lady who politely took my order for four Lobster Rolls. We were heading for an evening Schooner cruise with Tevake Sailing Charters on Bailey Island. While I waited for my order I observed dinners coming out of the kitchen. They looked amazing! I picked up my order of Lobster Rolls and headed to the cruise. We got underway and eagerly opened the boxes. The rolls offered just the right amount of bread to cradle a huge amount of Lobster. These Bad Boys were delicious and well worth $14.95! We plan on eating at the Restaurant before we depart. The inside is neat and clean. The Staff hustles and appears to be very efficient. Thankfully they have proper size wine glasses. One of the things that drives me crazy is when you order a bottle of wine and get a miniature glass. We'll let you know about having a meal inside. Just based off of the Lobster Rolls, I'd highly recommend eating here. Guten Appetit! Pope
(5)Jessica B.
Service was very welcoming and friendly. I shared a twin lobster with my dad and it was delicious--didn't even need the butter. I also liked their blueberry pie which wasn't too sweet.
(4)Paul M.
Many GF items on menu, 5 star food and service, beautiful coastal views through large windows. Waitress/manager Dawn is GF expert. We enjoyed shrimp cocktail, fried oyster dinner, ice cream cake dessert. Generous portions, good value.
(5)Charles H.
Morse's is likely the best restaurant on Bailey Island. While they don't have a lot of competition, I believe if they continue to operate as they currently do they will be required to expand. We waited 30 minutes for a table as we were a large group (11) and found a walk on the cribstone bridge to be a relaxing way to view the stunning Maine coast and educate ourselves on the unique civil engineering feat that is the recently rebuilt bridge. I had an opportunity to try Morses's one night and Cook's two nights later. A world of difference in cost and service gives a quick nod to Morse's over Cook's if you have to decide between the two. There are also the Giant Stairs Grille and Salt Cod cafe to try before going to Cook's. The chowder was well received as was the lobster roll. Our waitress was warm and friendly and got the order correct. Parking is just outside the door or across the street; it is pretty tight.

Although we really looked forward to dinner at Morse's Cribstone Grill, it was not exactly what we had hoped it would be. I should back up for a minute to explain that we had dined in this exact spot when it was the Rock Ovens Restaurant a million years ago, so that stored memory may have had something to do with the disappointment I felt when we sat down and checked out the menu. Drop dead gorgeous setting, well trained helpful staff with a sandwich and fried food theme. So nice when restaurants post an on-line menu so diners know what to expect. I do look forward to returning for a lunch outside and up close to that beautiful view.
(3)Brian M.
We can't help but give five stars to a restaurant as topnotch as Morse's. This was our first stop on Bailey Island, and essentially decided we didn't need to go anywhere else. The wait staff was super helpful, the food was fantastic, and the view was even better. My husband and I shared a boiled lobster special (my first lobster!)--and it all tasted even better because we had window seats to watch the cook walk to his lobster shack, show us our lobster, and drop it in the pot. :) All week we looked forward to going back, and were similarly impressed with our broiled haddock dinner and autumn salad with scallops (strawberry balsamic is legit!!). Morse's is the best place on the island to get classy yet well-priced fresh seafood. It's got a refreshing down-home feel, yet doesn't slack on quality in the least.
(5)Karen D.
Been there several times. Love the shrimp and haddock nachos, salad is unbelievable, quesadillas awesome. Staff is friendly. Can't wait to return before I leave each and every time! And can we talk about the view!? Good job Sheldon!
(5)Jo J.
Broiled scallops are delish! Fried clams excellent! House salad is wonderful. You may have to wait but who cares with such a pretty view and great bar drinks. Relax, enjoy....don't even think of going to Cook's. No need. Accessible by boat also which we love.

My boyfriend's family has a house on Bailey Island, so we visit every summer and rarely feel like cooking. We had never eaten at Morse's in the past, so we decided to give it a shot and I'm SO glad we did. The location is spectacular, the building screams New England waterfront and our dinner and server were excellent. We showed up about 5:30 on a weeknight as we were told it gets busy about 6pm. I'm glad we took the advice, because we had no trouble parking, but the place filled up shortly after we arrived. We were greeted immediately by Dawn, who was VERY friendly, made great suggestions and checked on us enough but wasn't hovering. We were impressed with the wine list - it's small, but there are some great wines on it. The boyfriend went with his favorite, Justin cabernet, while I had a glass of pouilly fuisse. As someone who works in an upscale wine bar, I was really pleased to see a quaint island seafood joint with those options. We shared a cup of clam chowder, which is served with a buttermilk biscuit and it was absolutely INCREDIBLE. By far the best clam chowder I've ever had. It was thick, piping hot and perfectly seasoned to bring out the taste of the freshly dug clams from the water right outside. For dinner, they were running a special of two 1-pound chicken lobsters for $14.99! Who wouldn't order that?!?!?! Most places charge $30 for one lobster. If you've never been fortunate enough to get lobsters fresh out of the ocean and boiled in salt water, I feel sorry for you. They were delicious, filled with tender, melt-in-your-mouth meat and a shell I could crack with my bare hands. Yum! It was an a la carte meal, so I opted for an ear of corn on the side (which I think was about $2). The corn was fresh, sweet and juicy. My boyfriend went with a fried seafood plate that contained a whopping amount of fried haddock, clams, scallops and Maine shrimp with a side of onion rings, cole slaw and a roll for around $25. He devoured his plate, despite being full, because he loved it so much. By the end of the meal, we were sad that it was our last night on the island, because we were already wanting more of that clam chowder for lunch the next day. Parking can be an issue - so just make sure you show up earlier than 6pm or walk from where you're staying. Trust me, the lack of parking is outshined by the food, service and location! This will definitely be a regular spot for us every year.
(5)Katelyn R.
My husband and I have been here a handful of times, mostly in the off season. We've always had a simply wonderful experience. Food is excellent, service is attentive, atmosphere is charming, view is beautiful. So much to offer! I always get a seafood dish, while my husband ops for something from land - both varieties are very pleasing. Chowders are flavorful and filling, entrees are well portioned and very satisfying and the beverages are generously made. Try this tiny gem if your visiting!!
(5)Gary R.
Finishing our trip to the islands and wanted clam chowder for dinner. Morse's served some of the very best chowder that I've ever had -- including that made by my fraternity cook from clams he dug himself (45 years ago). So if you want great chowder, then this is the place. Service was great -- ask for Laura. BTW the bowl is more than enough for a meal.

We've been vacationing on Bailey Island for more than 30 years and have eaten at every incarnation of every restaurant multiple times, including the infamous Cook's. This week, we ate at Cook's and Morse's on successive nights, a good way to compare. Yes, Cook's is overpriced on many items but if you order judiciously, you can have a more than satisfactory meal without feeling scammed. And Morse's leaves a lot to be desired. For example: Lobster stew (cup) is $10.95 at Cook's and $6.99 at Morse's. No comparison, right? But Cook's is chock full of lobster meat, about 3 times as much as Morse's. Is $10.95 outrageous in a year when lobsters are plentiful? I think it is. But $6.99 doesn't look so good either when it has only a spoonful of lobster. At Morse's we waited 20 minutes after the stew for a lobster and an order of steamers. The waitress overheard our comments and explained that they were changing the propane tank. OK, it happens. But when the food came, my steamers were cold. Unforgivable! Were they sitting waiting for my husband's lobster? The waitress offered to take them back but to do what? Heat them up and rubberize them? Since the broth was luke warm, I asked for a cup of hot broth. The second cup was no hotter than the first and horribly over salted. (The waitress never checked back to see if the broth was OK.) Price: Cook's has two sizes of steamers, $10.95 and $14.95. We had the large and it had about 1/3 more clams than Morse's for $12.99. And they were piping hot with perfect (hot) broth. And promptly served. And there's Cook's fabulous cole slaw and fried oysters that melt in your mouth. Morse's even screwed up a soft drink by watering it down to the point of tastelessness. So which is the better deal? A point in their favor: Morse's has an excellent house salad, fine as is or with fish/seafood added. It's hard to find a good salad around here but otherwise I recommend Giant Stairs for straightforward, well-prepared fish/seafood at reasonable prices. Terrific onion rings, great haddock chowder, a perfect lobster roll and a lobster BLT for $2 less than Morse's (but it's a lunch special, may not be available every day).
(2)Robert M.
Somebody should tell these people they got it right! We ate out on their dock, and I felt a little guilty our waitress had to walk back and forth a lot. We had lobster quesadilla, grilled haddock sandwich, 2 lobster rolls - all with best sweet potato fries I have ever had. The haddock was moist, flakey and perfect. The beers were great --- the blueberry one was really good. Service was perfect and was a warm Maine welcome! Thanks!
(5)D. K.
Totally amazing bloody Mary's made by Dawn. Wow! In addition to the Mary's, this is a great spot for casual pub-style fare. A go-to spot in the area, for sure. I just wish they were open in the winter.
(4)D. M.
We have been to The Cribstone Grill every visit to Bailey Island since they opened. Since we have a cottage on the island we tend to wait for the last possible moment to show up and twice they underestimated the number of lobsters they needed and were out. However, since we cook our own lobsters that wasn't even an issue for us. We have enjoyed our dinners each and every time we have been there, and have no problem waiting for a table at the bar, where the bar staff are knowledgable and friendly. We are happy to have a good, resonably priced restaurant on the island! The over-priced, dirty restaurant across the street with marginal fare should just close down and regroup!
(4)Lydia C.
The view is amazing. The fried clams are the best in the area---very fresh, cooked perfectly.......The scallops (broiled) are perfection and they know how to make sweet potato fries---not a soggy one in sight. Service was swift and friendly. Prices very reasonable. Even the sound track on the stereo was very pleasant. This is just a wonderful spot. Thank God there is someplace to go with guests that has a terrific view AND good food.

Morse's Cribstone is AWESOME!I I was born and raised in Maine and now live in Denver, CO so I have been to Cook's many, many times in the past and sick of being treated like a stupid tourist and especially sick of their ridiculous prices. Now that Lobsters are so cheap, I refuse to eat at places like Cook's, who has never adjusted their inflated pricing to the market and blatantly take advantage of the tourists that don't know any better........ so with that being said, we decided to try Morse's and so glad we did. We had our small dog with us and they put us at a table outside the bar area and the wait staff and people who work their could not have been nicer and treated us and our little dog any better. The prices were half of what you pay at Cook's and the Lobsters, Steamers and Scallops were straight from the ocean and onto our plates. You will not find better and tastier fried clams and fresh seafood anywhere on the planet and the deserts and bloody mary's were wicked awesome too!

My husband loved the nachos, but the serving was huge! The server was very nice and good, but the food honestly just your usual fare in a tourist area. Sorry.

They do fried clams the right way. If you sit outside the views can't be beat. I felt the menu was a little limited, but they had some nice local beers on tap. A fun place to hang out

Cute place on the island. Beautiful views surrounding the restaurant and a dock you could pull your boat up to. Inviting staff and of course tasty food.

Beautiful setting, reasonable prices, delicious food, and great service. Had the salad with house dressing and the lobster/clam dinner. Everything perfect. Will definitely be back!

Amazing.

One of the best salads in the Universe and everything else is as good. Go for the crab roll as a break from labsta' rolls....it is fantastic. Trust me, you'll dream about this food.

(5)Meaghan H.

Pope

Service was very welcoming and friendly. I shared a twin lobster with my dad and it was delicious--didn't even need the butter. I also liked their blueberry pie which wasn't too sweet.

Many GF items on menu, 5 star food and service, beautiful coastal views through large windows. Waitress/manager Dawn is GF expert. We enjoyed shrimp cocktail, fried oyster dinner, ice cream cake dessert. Generous portions, good value.

Totally amazing bloody Mary's made by Dawn. Wow! In addition to the Mary's, this is a great spot for casual pub-style fare. A go-to spot in the area, for sure. I just wish they were open in the winter.
